Urban planning

Master planning and densification strategy, argued on economics as much as on form.

Escobar plans on the position that a city needs an economic base before it needs a drawing. He has redesigned a hundred-hectare new city near Ottawa, worked on Gatineau’s downtown core, and won a competition to redesign Beijing’s downtown.

He is a public advocate for transit-oriented development and for densifying land that already has infrastructure, rather than expanding into agricultural and forested land.
